Does this look good?

It looks a bit dark to me as well. Drying the powders to see if it turns a more pale brown/tan color could give a better indication of purity.

Again, how did you wash between the refine’s?

Hey, I have refined this 3x and I was wondering if it looks good to melt?

Thank you all for your guidance!

Guys If He wash it the precipitate with liquid ammonia.
Put in a hot plate and let it warm for few
minutes.
Perhaps He can get more clean it precipitate ??

I never do it before.
A Friend told me to wash gold precipitation with ammonia after HCL wash.
to get a cleaner gold precipitate.

If you refined it three times it should be more than enough, I find what martijn said very plausible. I now think sreetips does that to do more refinings instead of going for the melt, teasing us 😅 .

Simple things to help increase purity include a good boil in HCl and several boils in distilled water, try them and see if the color looks better.
I 2nd this from nickvc, all of my gold powder is washed very well with hcl boil and several washes in boiling distilled water.

Could be the picture or lighting but it looks a little dark, it should be close to what cinnamon powder looks like.

If it helps- this is gold that's had one recovery drop and one refine. Well cleaned on the recovery with a dilute HCl boil followed by 2 x hot water boils. The same on the refine. This is the colour you want to be aiming for, and this gold was 99.99%

HEY - where did you get that - it looks like mine  :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:;);)(y)

Kurt

The sponge/powder in the OPs pic is still wet - it will get lighter in color when dried

That is what we need a pic of - the sponge/powder dried

Kurt
I looked at the OP's picture again and noticed that there's a water ring just above the gold so being wet would make it darker.

bhilton, let's see a picture of the gold when dry.

I have gold powder looks like Spaceships however it's more a gold color I got it from crushing rocks and putting the stuff through a process chems . oxygen ect .
I have 1 oz. Who knows enough to buy it

I'll sale this at a premium

Welcome to us.

I wish I could promise that you have Gold and can sell it.
However nobody wants to buy on this information, we know nothing about it.

Do you have an assay telling what is in the Rocks?
Then a test after to see what the powder is?
How did you process this?

Comparing this to what Jon showed from known Gold bearing scrap,
not ore is on the verge of insulting.

You may have Gold or nothing.

Study this if you want to continue processing.

We ask our new members to do 3 things.
1. Read C.M. Hokes book on refining jewelers scrap, it gives an easy introduction to the most important chemistry regarding refining.
It is free here on the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=19798
2. Then read the safety section of the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/forums/safety.47/
3. And then read about "Dealing with waste" in the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/threads/dealing-with-waste.10539/

Good but still a bit dark.
You should wash it more or refine it again.
Is this the first refining?

I refined it again and it came out a little better, but it was still a bit dark.

My process has been to boil in 31.45% hcl for 2-3 minutes, 3 rinses with boiling water from my kettle (should I just boil it on the hot plate with water in it?).

Then I rediscover in AR and repeat.

Maybe I am using too much SMB to drop, I used around 3 teaspoons and I've since melted it. It weighed 3.2grams!

One gram of SMB per gram of Gold.
